China’s First New Energy Base Phase 1 in Deserted Area has been on Grid at Full Capacity
On April 26th, the new energy photovoltaic project phase 1 in Ningxia Tengger Desert under CHN Energy was officially put into operation and had grid-connected capacity of 1GW. With main construction of large-scaled wind and photovoltaic base and supporting of corresponding peak shaving units, this project had an installed total scale of new energy of 13GW and a planned total investment of over 85 billion yuan.
The photovoltaic project
The 1GW photovoltaic project of the new energy base project phase 1 in Ningxia Tengger Desert was conducted by China Longyuan Power Group Co., Ltd. (“Longyuan Power” for short) under CHN Energy. Longyuan power adopted the microcontroller processing technology to achieve accurate solar track and increase the efficiency of power generation by about 5% through combining high-precision slope sensors and the path of the sun.
The construction and equipment testing of the new energy base project phase 1 were completed at the end of March. After connected to the grid, the project can provide clean electricity of 18TKWh to satisfy the whole-year electricity utility for 1.5 million households every year. During the construction process, to control wind and sand, the project laid sod and seeded in an area of 26 thousand mu (about 17 square kilometers).
